The Marilyn Horne Museum and Exhibit Center Chamber Concert Series has been one of our most popular programs since it began in the fall of 2017. We are excited to announce two chamber programs that will be available online for one-night-only performances this year.
The first performance will feature Cameroonian-American mezzo-soprano Veena Akama-Makia. Originally scheduled as part of a quartet to perform this past spring, Akama-Makia is working on a solo recital curated exclusively for the museum. Accompanying her will be pianist Evan Ritter. Akama-Makia and Ritter will be performing works by African-American composer Florence Price along with selections by Xavier Montsalvatge, Margaret Bonds, and Antonín Dvořák. This performance is being held in conjunction with African American History Month in February. Performance dates to be announced.
